Coaches

Our coaches bring a wealth of technical knowledge and experience to our club. In addition, they are constantly striving to increase their technical and tactical knowledge towards ski racing through education from both the United States Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) and Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA). They ensure athletes’ long-term improvement through providing young racers with a solid understanding of the fundamentals to racing technique and tactics. Skiers of all levels can subsequently improve their involvement with the Parks Junior Ski Racing Team.

Sarah Stern

MWAR Coach U18-U12 Coach

Sarah began her lifelong passion for skiing at the age of 2 quickly mastering the rope tow and t-bar at Sunburst Ski Area.  From there Sarah followed in the family footsteps of ski racing for MWAR and USSA by joining Parks Ski Team.  Parks has been a second family for Sarah as she competed locally and regionally through out her younger years.  Sarah also went on to compete at the high school level where she soon after graduating started to coach for West Bend High School.  She coached several high school teams, University School, DSHA among them before joining Parks Ski Team in 2005.  Sarah has coached at both the USSA and MWAR level during her time with Parks holding a Level 200 USSA certification.  She is fanatical about ski racing and working with the younger aged athletes.  Sarah believes in giving them a solid foundation to build upon so they have a life long love for skiing and racing.

In the winter when not coaching you can find Sarah skiing with family and friends, mainly her dad who is out on the slopes every chance he gets and where Sarah gets her love of the sport.  Sarah currently lives in the West Bend area with her spouse, Steve and their two black labs, Tess and Abe.  She also works in the West Bend area working on economic development for Economic Development of Washington County (EDWC).

Brandon.jpg

Brandon Kagerbauer

Brandon grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin learning how to ski from his dad at the age of 4. His family would go out a few times each year to local hills such as Sunburst or Little Switzerland. The family would also take an occasional trip up to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to Ski Brule, Powderhorn or Black Jack. Brandon’s passion for skiing and ski racing started his freshman year of high school when he noticed the local high school ski team at an athletics meeting at West Bend High School. Not knowing much about racing, Brandon joined the team and quickly fell in love with the sport. Brandon joined PARKS for his Sophomore year of High School where he made tremendous improvement in his skiing. During his racing career, Brandon won one race and competed in the Wisconsin State High School Ski Meet his senior year where he finished top 30 in the state overall. After High School, Brandon attended University of Wisconsin – Whitewater where he attained a Bachelors and a Master’s Degree in Accounting. Brandon continued his passion for skiing during college by joining the Ski Club at UW-Whitewater where he skied at Big Sky, Steamboat and Jackson Hole. After graduating, Brandon moved back to the area and started coaching for PARKS during the 2018/2019 season. Outside of skiing, Brandon enjoys running, hiking, water skiing and playing soccer.
